Condensate Return Preheating

The rooftop thermosolar plant at Université de Sherbrooke, located on the main campus in Quebec, Canada, plays a crucial role in enhancing the university’s energy efficiency. This intelligent solar thermal plant preheats water before it enters the central boilers, which supply heat throughout the campus via an extensive steam network. This system contributes to the university’s goal of achieving carbon neutrality by 2030. Université de Sherbrooke

In addition to the rooftop installation, the university has developed a comprehensive Solar Park, recognized as Canada’s largest dedicated to applied research in solar energy. With a total capacity of nearly one megawatt—approximately 15% of the main campus’s peak consumption—the park serves as a national benchmark for validating future production and storage technologies associated with renewable energies, particularly in cold climates.

These initiatives underscore Université de Sherbrooke’s commitment to sustainability and innovation in renewable energy.
